Disciplinary Action Looms as Four Super League Players Face Bans
In the wake of the latest round of Super League action, four players have been issued suspensions, including Leeds Rhinos captain Cameron Smith. The penalties come following a series of incidents deemed to have violated the league’s code of conduct.
Smith has been handed a one-match ban after being charged with a Grade B Dangerous Contact offense during the Rhinos’ defeat against Salford Red Devils on Saturday. The incident was deemed to be at the higher end of the grading scale, meaning the influential skipper will miss this weekend’s clash with Wigan Warriors.
Salford’s Tim Lafai has also been suspended for one game, receiving a Grade C Head Contact charge that saw him sin-binned early in the Red Devils’ victory over Brad Arthur’s side.
The troubles don’t end there, as two Hull FC players have also been hit with bans. Key forward Jordan Lane is set to miss his first match of the season this weekend following a Grade B Head Contact charge in their heavy defeat to St Helens. Teammate Brad Fash has also been given a one-match suspension for an incident that resulted in the same grading and charge as Lane.
“All players have until 12pm on Tuesday to decide whether they wish to appeal their respective suspensions.”
