It was a weekend of contrasting fortunes for Super League clubs when it came to match-day attendance figures. While some sides enjoyed robust crowds, others struggled to fill their stadiums.

The standout result of the round was St Helens’ 24-12 victory over Catalans Dragons in a top-of-the-table clash on Friday night. The Saints finally ended their five-game losing streak against the Catalan outfit, with Konrad Hurrell’s try before half-time and a dominant second-half display sealing the win for the home side in front of 11,088 fans at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

Elsewhere, Warrington Wolves and Wigan Warriors faced off in a ‘dress rehearsal’ for the Challenge Cup final, with the Wire edging a tight 18-19 affair at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in front of 12,181 spectators – Warrington’s highest attendance this season.

However, the news wasn’t as positive for all clubs. Huddersfield Giants, despite a valiant effort, could only attract 4,102 fans to their 24-18 defeat against Hull FC – less than half the attendance of the Airlie Birds’ previous away game.

Similarly, Salford Red Devils recorded their lowest attendance of the campaign, with just 2,843 supporters present to witness their 34-4 triumph over the London Broncos. This figure was the third-lowest in Super League this season.

On a more positive note, Leeds Rhinos enjoyed their highest home attendance since round five, with 14,529 fans packing into Headingley for their 32-4 victory over Castleford Tigers. Hull KR also continued their strong home support, with another sell-out crowd at Craven Park.

“Overall, it was a mixed bag for Super League attendances, with some clubs capitalizing on the excitement of top-of-the-table clashes and local derbies, while others struggled to attract significant numbers through the turnstiles.”
