Hull FC and Catalans Dragons Shake Up Super League Transfers
As the Super League transfer window heats up, clubs across the competition are actively bolstering their rosters for the upcoming 2025 season. One such team making waves in the market is Hull FC, who have already made several high-profile signings, including the acquisition of Leigh Leopards captain Jon Asiata.
Another side set for a significant overhaul is the Catalans Dragons. They have confirmed the departure of back-rower Mike McMeeken to Wakefield Trinity, and more departures are expected. Wingers Tom Davies and Tom Johnstone will be joining Hull KR and Wakefield Trinity, respectively, leaving head coach Steve McNamara and the Dragons’ hierarchy with some gaps to fill.
“To address the loss of Davies and Johnstone, the Catalans Dragons are reportedly targeting Kiwi superstar Dallin Watene-Zelezniak as their top transfer priority.”
Watene-Zelezniak, who currently plays for the New Zealand Warriors, is said to be the “number one target” for the “cashed-up” Perpignan outfit. With Watene-Zelezniak’s contract at the Warriors set to expire next year, the Dragons are prepared to offer him a lucrative three-year deal.
Known for his fearless runs, elusive style, and spectacular finishes, the 29-year-old Watene-Zelezniak has established himself as one of the most dynamic wingers in the NRL, with over 100 career tries to his name. Should the Dragons secure his signature, he would undoubtedly be considered one of the most impressive signings of the 2025 Super League season.
