Rugby League News: St Helens Appoint Eamon O’Carroll as Assistant Coach
St Helens have confirmed the signing of Eamon O’Carroll as one of their new assistant coaches, following his departure from Championship club Bradford Bulls.
O’Carroll, who guided the Bulls to the Championship play-offs, has now joined Paul Wellens’ coaching team at the Totally Wicked Stadium for the 2025 season. He will work alongside the experienced Lee Briers, as the Red V’s coaching setup appears to be finalized.
The 37-year-old boasts a wealth of playing experience, having made over 150 appearances for the likes of Wigan Warriors, Hull FC, and Widnes Vikings, as well as representing Ireland on the international stage. He has also held assistant coaching roles with Widnes, Catalans Dragons, and most recently, Newcastle Thunder.
“I’m really excited and honoured to be joining a club of the stature of St Helens, it’s a huge honour not just for myself but for my family as well.”
The Oldham native is eager to connect with the players and help them develop further, while also setting his sights on winning trophies with the club.
Saints boss Wellens praised O’Carroll’s solid knowledge of the game, his hunger, passion, and enthusiasm for coaching, stating that it was an easy decision to bring him in and strengthen the coaching team.
