St Helens Loan Young Prop Brett Bailey to Whitehaven in Rugby League Boost

In a move to develop their young talent, St Helens have confirmed that 20-year-old prop Brett Bailey has joined Whitehaven on an initial two-week loan deal in the rugby league Championship.

Paul Wellens’ St Helens side have an abundance of promising props, including fellow youngster and rising star George Delaney, allowing them to loan out Bailey to gain valuable game time and experience.

Whitehaven Rugby League expressed their delight at securing Bailey’s services, with head coach Jonty Gorley praising the young forward’s strong running game and potential.

“We’ve secured a young front row from St Helens called Brett Bailey, on a two-week loan deal, he won their reserve player of the year last season and featured in this year’s rugby league pre-season games with the first team,” Gorley said.

Bailey, the current reserve player of the year for the Betfred Super League leaders, will be looking to make an immediate impact in the Championship, with the possibility of featuring against Batley Bulldogs this weekend.

This loan move is just the latest in a flurry of activity, as rugby league clubs across the rugby league pyramid look to develop their young talents. Leigh Leopards, Huddersfield Giants, and Warrington Wolves have all sent promising prospects on loan to the lower divisions, highlighting the importance of these arrangements in the rugby league world.

As the rugby league season progresses and the Rugby League World Cup fixtures loom, these loan deals will be crucial in providing valuable playing time and experience for the next generation of rugby league stars, with the ultimate goal of bolstering the depth and quality of the sport across the Sky Sports rugby league coverage.
