Daryl Clark Ruled Out for Up to Six Weeks with Suspected Foot Fracture
On August 12, 2024, St Helens head coach Paul Wellens confirmed that key player Daryl Clark will be sidelined for up to six weeks due to a suspected fractured foot. The incident occurred late in the match against Salford Red Devils last Thursday, with Clark not involved in the closing moments of the game that saw Moses Mbye secure a one-point victory for the Red Devils.
Images shared by the Saints fan site ‘Red Vee’ on Monday morning showed the hooker in a protective boot, sparking concerns among the club’s supporters. Wellens’ subsequent remarks at the media day ahead of this weekend’s Magic Weekend event in Leeds validated those fears, as he revealed that Clark’s injury is indeed serious.
“Daryl has to get assessed and a proper x-ray done later, but we are thinking that there is a fracture of the foot there,” stated Wellens. “And with that, we would be looking at potentially four to six weeks with the information we have so far.”
The absence of Clark, a crucial member of the St Helens squad, will be a significant blow as the reigning Super League champions prepare to take on bitter rivals Wigan Warriors at Elland Road on Saturday, the opening day of the annual Magic Weekend showcase.
