Sky Sports Unveils New Super League Streaming Platform: Sky Sports+
In a major announcement for rugby league fans, Sky Sports has unveiled its latest offering, Sky Sports+, which will be the exclusive platform for broadcasting every Super League game starting from August. This new service signifies a significant shift in how Super League matches will be accessed by viewers.
Until now, Sky Sports has been airing games across its various TV channels, including Action, Arena, and Mix. However, with the introduction of their new three-year rights deal, the network has stated that all matches will be shown “across Sky Sports channels and platforms,” hinting at the creation of a dedicated streaming service.
The launch of Sky Sports+ will coincide with the start of the 2024/25 English Football League season, providing rugby league enthusiasts with a one-stop-shop for all their Super League viewing needs.
According to Sky Sports, existing customers with a full subscription will not need to do anything additional, as Sky Sports+ will be seamlessly integrated into the existing Sky experience across platforms such as Sky Glass, Sky Stream, Sky Q, and NOW.
Furthermore, the revamped Sky Sports App will become the primary hub for sports streaming, with Sky Sports+ streams accessible through the app’s event centers. Fans can also look forward to enhanced personalization features, allowing them to easily follow their favorite teams and competitions. Additionally, the multi-sports scores section will be improved, offering a more comprehensive view of fixtures, live scores, and an extended calendar beyond the typical seven-day football coverage.
The launch of Sky Sports+ marks a significant evolution in the broadcast landscape for Super League, as the league continues to work with IMG to maximize the visibility of the competition across various TV channels and streaming services.
