Burgess Aims to Lead Warrington to Glory in 2025
As Sam Burgess enters his second season as Warrington Wolves’ head coach, the England legend will be hoping to guide the club to their first major trophy in 2025. Burgess, who originally signed a two-year contract with the Wire, has since agreed to an extension, keeping him at the club beyond the upcoming campaign.
However, Burgess and the Warrington management have their work cut out when it comes to securing the futures of several key players. Eight members of the first-team squad are entering the final year of their contracts, meaning they can engage with other clubs from December 1st.
Key Players Facing Contract Uncertainty
Chief among the players in that group are the club’s first-choice centre pairing, Toby King and Rodrick Tai, who both impressed under Burgess in 2024. The Wolves will likely look to tie down these two players to new deals sooner rather than later. Additionally, Australian forward Paul Vaughan and Zane Musgrove are also in the final year of their current contracts.
Looking further ahead to 2026, Warrington have a host of major stars whose futures remain uncertain, including the likes of George Williams, James Harrison, Danny Walker, and Luke Yates.
“Burgess will be keen to ensure his squad remains intact as he targets a successful 2025 campaign and the club’s first piece of major silverware since his arrival. The next few weeks and months will be crucial as the Wolves look to secure the long-term futures of their key players.”
