Salford Red Devils Secure Sam Stone’s Future with Two-Year Contract Extension
Salford Red Devils have bolstered their roster by signing forward Sam Stone to a new two-year deal, keeping him with the club until at least 2026. The 26-year-old, who joined the Red Devils ahead of the 2023 season, has made a significant impact since making the switch from Leigh.
Stone’s Rugby Journey
Stone’s rugby league journey has taken him from the NRL, where he played for Newcastle Knights and Gold Coast Titans, scoring five tries, to England’s Leigh Leopards, where he was a key figure in their promotion back to the Super League. Additionally, he has represented Malta twice in international test matches.
Impressive Contributions at Salford
Since joining Salford, Stone has continued to impress, scoring ten tries in his 35 appearances, including a golden-point winner against Warrington Wolves earlier this year. His standout performance this season came in a Round Two victory over Castleford, where he scored two tries.
“I am very happy to extend my contract at Salford. It was a relatively easy decision to stay; I have enjoyed my time here and I feel like I am continuing to improve under this coaching staff. This group of lads are fantastic to play alongside, and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve over the next few years!” – Sam Stone
Head coach Paul Rowley echoed these sentiments, praising Stone’s contributions both on and off the field, saying, “It is fantastic that Sam has extended his contract and is staying with the group. He’s been a great addition to the team, providing both quality and durability since joining us.”
With Sam Stone’s future secured, Salford Red Devils fans can look forward to seeing the talented forward continue to make an impact as the team prepares to face Warrington Wolves on Friday, June 14th, at 8 pm at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
