Salford Red Devils Secure Two-Year Extension for Superstar Playmaker Marc Sneyd

In a major boost for the Salford Red Devils, the club has announced a two-year contract extension for their star half-back Marc Sneyd. The 33-year-old, described as “one of Super League’s best players” by the club’s Director of Rugby and Operations, Ian Blease, will now remain with the Greater Manchester outfit until the end of the 2026 season.

Sneyd’s existing deal was set to expire at the conclusion of the current campaign, but the playmaker has now committed his long-term future to the Red Devils. The Oldham-born ace, who recently became Salford’s all-time top points scorer in the Super League era, expressed his delight at extending his stay, stating:

“My family are really settled, and I am enjoying playing rugby alongside these group of lads – so long may that continue!”

Having come through the Salford academy, Sneyd initially debuted for the club in 2010 before enjoying spells at Castleford Tigers and Hull FC. The two-time England international returned to the Salford Community Stadium ahead of the 2022 season and has been in scintillating form ever since, currently topping the Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel leaderboard and the overall Super League points scoring charts.

Head Coach’s Praise for Sneyd

Head coach Paul Rowley was understandably thrilled to secure Sneyd’s long-term services, highlighting the player’s consistent high standards and unwavering leadership qualities. “I believe he is the sort of character and technician that doesn’t come along too often, so when you have that person in your club, you don’t let them go,” Rowley commented.

Director of Rugby’s Sentiments

Salford’s Director of Rugby, Ian Blease, echoed these sentiments, stating that Sneyd’s contract extension was a vital piece of business for the club. “He is one of the competition (Super League)’s best players and securing his long-term signature was something we saw as vitally important,” Blease affirmed.

With Sneyd’s future now secured, the Red Devils will be hoping to build on their impressive start to the 2023 season and challenge for silverware in the coming years, with their talismanic playmaker leading the way.
