Addressing the aftermath of Salford’s 26-0 defeat to the Leigh Leopards at Magic Weekend, Inu acknowledged the team’s disappointment, noting that they “shot themselves in the foot in a few moments” and found it challenging to mount a comeback after losing two players to the sin-bin in quick succession during the first half. Despite the setback, the coach praised the team’s character and insisted they would learn from the experience.
Concerns Over Inconsistent Officiating of New Ruck Rules
Inu also expressed concerns over the lack of consistency in officiating the new ruck rules introduced at the start of the season. He pointed out that certain aspects the team had trained extensively on in pre-season had “fallen out the window,” leaving them struggling to adapt to what he described as “a whole new game.”

With key players Tim Lafai and Ollie Partington suspended, and Sam Stone ruled out due to concussion protocols, Inu emphasized that the Red Devils would not make any excuses, expressing confidence in the squad’s depth and willingness to “help each other out” in the face of adversity.
Looking ahead, the coach revealed that the club is actively pursuing recruitment opportunities, with “a few people in the mix” to potentially join the squad for the 2025 season, as Salford continues to bolster their roster despite operating with one of the smallest squads in the Super League competition.
