Salford Red Devils and Hull FC Lead Super League Disciplinary Standings

Salford Red Devils Join Hull FC Atop the Super League Disciplinary Table

(May 8) Salford Red Devils’ recent 10-6 victory over the Huddersfield Giants has seen them move level with Hull FC at the top of the Super League’s disciplinary standings. The Red Devils were shown two yellow cards during the match, taking their tally to nine for the season, equalling Hull FC’s overall card count.

The Huddersfield Giants also had their own disciplinary concerns, with winger Elliot Wallis receiving a red card for an alleged headbutt, only for the officials to later deem it a mistake, allowing Wallis to avoid a ban. This came just a month after Salford’s King Vuniyayawa was also shown a red card against the London Broncos, which was subsequently overturned.

Hull FC’s own struggles with discipline earlier in the campaign have seen them rack up 10 cards so far this season, including three red cards. However, the Airlie Birds have improved in recent rounds, going three matches without picking up any further cards.

Ligi Sao was Hull FC’s most recent offender, receiving a yellow card in the final moments of their 56-22 defeat against Huddersfield. His teammate Jack Brown was also sin-binned earlier in that same match, before making a move to Hull KR during the week.

The top offenders in the Super League this season are Salford’s Ryan Brierley and Hull FC’s Ligi Sao, both of whom have received three yellow cards apiece. Sao’s tally includes the red card he picked up on the opening night against Hull KR.
