Rugby League News: Veteran Prop Bunty Afoa Eyed by Super League Clubs
New Zealand Warriors’ veteran prop Bunty Afoa has emerged as a potential target for Super League clubs ahead of the 2025 season, Love Rugby League has learned.
Afoa, who has made nearly 150 appearances for the Warriors since his debut in 2016, is one of many NRL players entering the open market for the 2026 season. However, the 28-year-old could potentially leave the Warriors even sooner, with clubs on both sides of the world being offered his services.
“Despite holding off on a move to Super League as he assesses his options in Australia, several English clubs are closely monitoring Afoa’s situation in case it develops over the winter months.”
A number of Super League teams, including Castleford Tigers, Catalans Dragons, Huddersfield Giants, and St Helens, currently have spots available on their overseas quota and are actively seeking experienced prop forwards. With more player movement expected in the coming weeks as clubs prepare for the 2025 season, Afoa could emerge as a valuable target for these and other teams in the league.
