Rugby League Transfer News: Tom Davies Moves to Hull KR

Rugby League Transfer Roundup: Busy Day in the South of France

On a busy day of transfer activity in the South of France, the rugby league world witnessed several high-profile moves. Earlier today, it was confirmed that the Catalans Dragons would not extend Jordan Abdull’s stay with the club, as the Hull KR player departs at the end of the season. Shortly after, the Dragons announced that winger Tom Davies would also leave the club, with the player opting against renewing his contract in the south of France.

In a surprising turn of events, Hull KR have now secured the services of Tom Davies, signing the talented winger to a three-year deal starting from the 2025 season. Davies, who has been an integral part of the Catalans’ success in recent years, boasts an impressive scoring record in Super League, having found the try line 81 times in 144 appearances for the Wigan Warriors and the Dragons.

“Tom is a very exciting signing for the club. He is undoubtedly one of the best wingers in the competition, and his stats highlight that,” Peters said. “Tom is known for his try-scoring ability and finishing near the line, but he’s also a strong ball carrier and a good defender. We’re always looking to bring in personalities to the team, and Tom will be a great addition to our group as he’s a very likeable person and player.”

The 27-year-old will replace the outgoing Ryan Hall, who is set to rejoin the Leeds Rhinos for the 2025 campaign. In an official statement, Hull KR Head Coach Willie Peters expressed his delight at securing Davies’ signature, lauding the winger’s try-scoring prowess, strong ball-carrying ability, and defensive solidity.

Davies, who was close with former Catalans teammate Tyrone May, expressed his eagerness to join Hull KR and help the club achieve success.

“I can’t wait to come over to the Robins. I’ve had a great time in France over the last five years, but after speaking to Willie (Peters) and seeing where Hull KR are heading now, I know that it’s something special, and I’m very much looking forward to being a part of it all.”

The addition of Davies to the Hull KR roster is undoubtedly a significant coup, as the club continues to strengthen its squad in pursuit of trophies and success in the upcoming seasons.
