Rugby League Transfer News: 2025 Season Signings and Rumors Revealed

Rugby League Transfer Activity Heats Up Ahead of 2025 Season

With the Super League season now past the halfway mark, clubs are already planning their roster moves for the 2025 campaign. Teams at the top of the table are strategizing ways to maintain their competitive edge in the hunt for silverware, while those struggling are determined to turn their fortunes around.

The domestic transfer market is fiercely contested, with the window for player movement opening on May 1st. While several high-profile deals have already been announced, rumors suggest more are in the works, awaiting confirmation. In addition to scouring the local talent pool, clubs are also extending their search overseas.

Securing Top Talent from the NRL

Securing top talent from the NRL, however, comes at a premium, and Super League sides must carefully manage their quota of overseas players. In a notable development, a marquee Australian Test international, reportedly commanding a salary of £330,000 per year, has agreed to a deal for the 2025 season.

“South Sydney Rabbitohs hooker Damien Cook has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Super League, with the Huddersfield Giants said to have made an offer. However, according to the Daily Telegraph, the 32-year-old veteran has agreed to join the St George Illawarra Dragons on a two-year contract, starting in 2025. This represents a setback for the Giants, who were hopeful of luring Cook to the English competition.”

Cook, who made his NRL debut with the Dragons in 2013 before joining the Canterbury Bulldogs, has amassed over 200 top-flight appearances and scored 34 tries throughout his illustrious career.
