Rugby League Starlet Jayden Sullivan Set for Hull FC Move
Just weeks after initial speculation, it now appears almost certain that talented rugby league playmaker Jayden Sullivan will be suiting up for Hull FC in the 2025 season. The 22-year-old is set to be released from his current contract with Australian club Wests Tigers, paving the way for a marquee move to the English Super League.
The rumor of Sullivan’s potential switch to Hull FC first gained traction in Jenna Brooks’ reports on Sky Sports, ahead of their coverage of the Super League action. Brooks revealed that the Black and Whites were “seriously considering” signing the half-back, noting that he would come with a significant price tag of around £180,000 per year.
“These reports have now been compounded by further updates from Down Under, with sources indicating that Wests Tigers have ‘found a suitor’ for Sullivan, despite him only joining the club on a four-year deal this year. While neither Hull FC nor Wests Tigers have officially commented on the situation, it appears the young playmaker will be released at the end of the 2024 season to facilitate the move.”
The impending arrival of Jayden Sullivan will mark another significant piece of recruitment for Hull FC, following the recent captures of Treigh Stewart and Jed Cartwright. Full-back Stewart will challenge for the number one shirt, while second-rower Cartwright, son of incoming head coach John, is expected to add much-needed physicality to the pack.
The Sullivan move comes as part of a wider exodus at Wests Tigers, with CEO Shane Richardson reportedly in England to offload players and free up salary cap space. This is in preparation for the arrival of Penrith Panthers and New South Wales star Jarome Luai on a reported $1.2 million-per-year deal, which has rendered several current Tigers players, including Sullivan, surplus to requirements.
While fellow Tigers import John Bateman has rejected a return to the UK, it appears Jayden Sullivan’s move to Hull FC is all but confirmed, as the talented young half-back prepares to embark on the next chapter of his burgeoning career in the Super League.
