Rugby League News: Hull FC’s Woes Continue as Chan Impresses in Defeat
Hull FC’s dismal season shows no signs of improvement as they suffered their 11th Super League defeat, falling 30-22 to Castleford Tigers at the weekend. Amidst the Black and Whites’ struggles, one of their mid-season signings, Tiaki Chan, has provided a glimmer of hope.
The young forward, on loan from the Wigan Warriors, made an immediate impact, scoring a try and adding some much-needed energy to the FC pack. Head coach Simon Grix was impressed with Chan’s performance and is hopeful of keeping him at the MKM Stadium for an extended period.
“He’s still young and a baby in the sport, if you like. He’s got a long way to go, but he’s got a lot of good qualities and we are thankful he’s with us at the moment.”
Chan joined Hull FC in search of regular game time, having found opportunities limited at Wigan due to the depth in their squad. The 22-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season with the Catalans Dragons last year, making 14 appearances and contributing with impressive numbers, including 705 metres, 152 tackles, and three offloads.
With Hull FC facing a trip to the Huddersfield Giants on Friday night, they will be hoping that Chan’s impact can help them secure their second win of the season and turn their fortunes around in the Super League.
