Rugby League News: Huddersfield Giants’ Jake Connor Loan Availability

Huddersfield Giants’ Jake Connor Available on Loan

Versatile Player Seeking Temporary Move

Huddersfield Giants’ head coach Ian Watson has confirmed that versatile player Jake Connor has been made available for loan to other clubs, despite being contracted with the Giants until the 2025 season.

Connor, who had been the starting fullback for the Giants until their Challenge Cup semi-final defeat to Warrington Wolves, has not started a game since then. Recently, it was revealed that Leeds Rhinos had enquired about taking Connor on loan, but the offer was rejected, and the player traveled with the Giants squad to their away defeat against the Catalans Dragons.

“While the Giants seem willing to let Connor leave on loan, there has been no takers for his services yet.”

However, there are several clubs that could benefit from acquiring the talented player in 2025, including:

  1. Castleford Tigers: The Tigers have already seen the departures of Danny Richardson and Jack Broadbent this year, and could use Connor’s versatility to bolster their squad. His ability to play in the halves or at fullback could provide valuable cover for the team.

  2. Hull FC: The club that Connor previously signed for, Hull FC, could be an ideal destination for the player. With gaps to fill in their backline, Connor’s experience and skill set could prove vital, particularly in the halves where the team has struggled to find a consistent pairing.

  3. Wakefield Trinity: The Championship leaders have already made some impressive signings for their expected return to Super League next season. Connor’s addition could provide genuine competition in both the halves and the fullback position, strengthening their squad depth.
