Rugby League Legends to Join Emotional Headingley Homecoming for Rob Burrow
Leeds, [Current Date] – The Leeds Rhinos’ annual MND Awareness game on Friday will hold extra significance, as the club mourns the tragic passing of beloved player Rob Burrow earlier this month at the age of 41.
Among the host of former teammates who will be present at the sold-out Headingley homecoming are iconic figures such as Ali Lauitiiti and Danny Buderus. Lauitiiti and Australian Andrew Dunemann, both integral parts of the 2004 Super League Grand Final-winning side, will join the emotional occasion. Legendary hooker Buderus, who played a key role in Leeds’ success in the 2000s, will also make the trip to England for the game.
The Rhinos will don a special one-off kit designed by MND sufferer Cath Muir, which was approved by Burrow himself before his passing. With the Burrow family in attendance, the evening is set to be a poignant tribute to the rugby league great.
“Headingley is expected to be a complete sell-out, with members of the MND community invited to help pay homage to Burrow, whose inspirational battle against the debilitating disease touched the hearts of many.”
Head Coach Rohan Smith has promised a fitting farewell as the Rhinos welcome the Leigh Leopards for this emotional homecoming.
