Rugby League’s League 1 Unveils 2024 Fixture List with 90 Matches Over 23 Rounds
The full schedule for the 2024 Rugby League 1 season has been revealed, showcasing a total of 90 games to be played across 23 rounds. As a result of London Skolars’ withdrawal, the third-tier competition will feature nine clubs, including Newcastle Thunder, who have overcome significant financial challenges to secure their spot.
Each Team to Face Off Home and Away, Plus Four “Loop” Fixtures
Each of the nine teams will face off against the other eight clubs home and away, with an additional four “loop” fixtures, bringing the total number of League 1 games for each team to 20. The “loop” matches will follow the same home and away structure as in Super League.
Newcomers to League 1 in 2024
The newcomers to League 1 in 2024 are Keighley Cougars and Newcastle, both of whom were relegated from the Championship in 2023. Oldham, led by Sean Long, are the pre-season favorites to top the division after making several high-profile signings, including former New Zealand international Elijah Taylor.
Opening Round Fixtures
The opening round, set for March 17, will see Keighley Cougars take on Cornwall, while Midlands Hurricanes host Rochdale Hornets, Hunslet face Newcastle Thunder, and Workington Town welcome Oldham. The complete fixture list for all 23 rounds can be found below.
