According to reports, Paul Rowley, the head coach of the Salford Red Devils, has emerged as the frontrunner for the vacant Hull FC job following Tony Smith’s departure earlier this month. The Mirror reports that Rowley, who has been with the Red Devils since November 2021, has been offered a three-year deal to take over the Black and Whites.
The 49-year-old has earned widespread praise for his management of the Salford squad and the team’s exciting brand of rugby, which could bring much-needed energy to the MKM Stadium. Richie Myler has been appointed as Hull FC’s new Director of Rugby, tasked with bringing in both new players and a new manager.
Myler’s appointment was a surprising move that sparked debate, with some, like Jon Wilkin, questioning his qualifications for the role. However, Wilkin acknowledged Myler’s self-assurance and confidence, suggesting he will “give it a great crack.”
