Rugby League News: Training Ground Spat Between Newcastle Knights Duo Hastings and Pryce
In a dramatic training ground incident, former Super League stars Jackson Hastings and Will Pryce, both playing for the Newcastle Knights in the NRL, were involved in a heated altercation that required their teammates to step in and separate the two.
The bust-up occurred during an opposed training session, with Newcastle management swiftly addressing the situation. While confirming the incident, they downplayed the severity, describing it as more of a “push and shove” than an all-out brawl, with no punches reportedly thrown.
This is not the first time Hastings has been involved in a scuffle, as the former Man of Steel winner was previously embroiled in an on-field incident during Newcastle’s NRL clash with the Sydney Roosters last week.
The training ground spat comes during a challenging start to the season for the Newcastle Knights, who have managed just two wins from their opening seven matches. The team’s early struggles have been compounded by the loss of star winger Dom Young and the long-term injury to captain Kalyn Ponga.
“Despite reports of a ‘solid working relationship’ between the two players, the training ground incident suggests tensions may be running high within the Newcastle squad.”
Pryce, who signed for the Knights alongside fellow English talent Kai Pearce-Paul, has been featuring in the club’s reserve grade team in the New South Wales Cup, where he has shared the field with the recently-dropped Hastings.
As the Knights look to turn their season around, they will be hoping that this altercation between Hastings and Pryce remains an isolated incident and does not have a detrimental impact on the team’s performance as they strive to climb the NRL table.
