Rugby League Enthusiasts Eagerly Await Magic Weekend’s Return in 2025
Rugby league fans can look forward to the continuation of the much-beloved Magic Weekend, as Love Rugby League reveals that the event will remain on the Super League schedule next year. RL Commercial chief Rhodri Jones has confirmed the event’s inclusion for 2025, though the location is yet to be determined.
After a successful stint at St James’ Park in Newcastle, the flagship Super League weekend is set to head to Elland Road in Leeds this year, marking the first time the event will be held in West Yorkshire. While the move has left some questioning the future of Magic Weekend, Jones has assured that the event will go ahead in 2025, with the focus now on finding a suitable “destination” venue to cater to the event’s passionate supporters.
“Addressing the speculation around IMG’s stance on Magic Weekend, Jones dismissed the notion that the event is on the chopping block. He clarified that the recommendation from IMG was to eliminate loop fixtures in general, rather than specifically targeting Magic Weekend. In fact, Jones emphasized that IMG sees value in the event and has no plans to remove it from the calendar.”
The upcoming Magic Weekend promises to be an exciting affair, with a packed schedule of matches. The opening day on Saturday is expected to be a sellout, featuring a highly anticipated derby between St Helens and Wigan, followed by a clash between Leeds Rhinos and Warrington Wolves. Sunday’s lineup includes London taking on Hull FC, Leigh facing Salford, Catalans squaring off with Hull KR, and Huddersfield Giants facing Castleford.
As rugby league enthusiasts eagerly await the return of Magic Weekend in 2025, the focus now turns to finding the perfect destination venue to showcase the sport’s passion and excitement.
