Liam Sutcliffe Joins Huddersfield Giants for 2025 Season: Rugby League News

Liam Sutcliffe Secures Huddersfield Giants Move for 2025 Season

In a significant move, Liam Sutcliffe will be joining the Huddersfield Giants for the 2025 season, Love Rugby League has learned. The talented centre has reached an agreement to leave his current club, Hull FC, a year earlier than his contract was set to expire.

Sutcliffe has been in negotiations with Hull over an early release from his MKM Stadium deal, and Rugby League Live revealed earlier this week that he had emerged as a target for the Giants. Love Rugby League has now confirmed that the transfer has been completed, paving the way for Sutcliffe’s return to West Yorkshire next year.

“The 25-year-old will be the direct replacement for outgoing Giants star Esan Marsters, who has agreed to join Salford Red Devils from the beginning of the 2024 season. Sutcliffe’s move to the Giants will see him sign a lucrative multi-year contract, providing him with a fresh start closer to home.”

After two seasons with Hull, Sutcliffe has struggled to recapture the form that saw him break through as a highly-rated teenager with Leeds Rhinos earlier in his career. The Giants, under the guidance of head coach Ian Watson, are continuing their own overhaul for the 2025 campaign, having already secured the signing of Tom Burgess.

This deal not only benefits Sutcliffe, who will have the opportunity to reignite his career, but also allows Hull to continue their sizeable rebuilding process under John Cartwright’s leadership. Both parties have come to an agreement to sever Sutcliffe’s existing contract a year early, paving the way for this transfer.
