Leigh Leopards Secure Permanent Signing of Rugby League Star Brad Dwyer
In a significant move for the Leigh Leopards rugby league club, they have officially confirmed the permanent signing of experienced hooker Brad Dwyer on a two-year contract. The 29-year-old initially joined the Leopards on loan from Warrington Wolves at the start of the current rugby league season, and his impressive performances over the opening five games have now earned him a full-time deal.
Dwyer’s permanent signing means he will be eligible to feature in the upcoming Rugby League Challenge Cup quarter-final clash against Hull KR this Saturday, as the Leopards seek to continue their positive start to the 2023 rugby league campaign. Speaking to the official Leigh Leopards website, the Wigan-born player expressed his delight at securing a long-term future with the club.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far. The boys have made me feel a part of it and I’ve loved coming into work every day. Massive thanks to the club for the opportunity and for making me feel wanted. I’m looking forward to ripping in with the boys on Saturday.”
The experienced rugby league hooker made his Super League debut for Warrington Wolves back in 2012 and spent six successful years with the club, scoring 16 tries in 88 appearances. During his time at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, Dwyer also gained valuable experience through loan spells with Swinton Lions, Huddersfield Giants and London Broncos.
After a five-year stint with Leeds Rhinos, which included a loan move to Featherstone, Dwyer joined Hull FC for the 2022 rugby league season before returning to his original club, Warrington Wolves. Leigh Leopards then made their move to bring the talented hooker to the club on loan, and his impressive early-season form has now been rewarded with a permanent contract.
Leigh Leopards head coach Adrian Lam and CEO Derek Beaumont will be hoping Dwyer’s arrival can help turn around the club’s disappointing start to the 2023 rugby league season, starting with a crucial victory against Hull KR in the Challenge Cup this weekend. Fans of the Leigh Leopards, as well as rugby league enthusiasts across the country, will be eager to see if Dwyer can maintain his strong early-season form and play a pivotal role in the club’s push for success both in the Challenge Cup and the Super League.
