Leigh Leopards Secure Adrian Lam’s Services with New Three-Year Contract
In a significant move for the Leigh Leopards, the club has confirmed that head coach Adrian Lam has signed a new three-year contract, keeping him at the helm until the end of the 2027 season. This announcement comes as a crucial development, as the Leopards had previously faced uncertainty with 20 players off contract at the start of the season.
Lam, the Papua New Guinean tactician, has been instrumental in the Leopards’ recent success, guiding the team to a record-breaking treble-winning promotion season in 2022 and securing the Betfred Challenge Cup triumph and a fifth-place finish in the Betfred Super League in 2023, earning him the coveted accolade of Super League Coach of the Year for the second time in four years.
“I am delighted to be able to secure Adrian’s services further and have him lead the team. He has been fantastic for the club and has achieved more than was asked of him at this stage of our plan.”
- Derek Beaumont, Leopards’ owner
The relationship between Lam, Beaumont, CEO Neil Jukes, and Head of Rugby Chris Chester has been described as a “great team” that the owner is keen to keep together. Beaumont acknowledged the challenges Lam has faced this season, with numerous player injuries, but praised the coach’s ability to adapt and keep the team in the battle.
Beaumont emphasized the importance of this contract extension for the club and the team, as it removes any doubt over Lam’s future and allows the Leopards to focus on the upcoming five-game road trip, where they will look to build on their recent unbeaten run of three matches.
With Adrian Lam’s commitment secured, the Leigh Leopards can now look towards the future with renewed confidence and stability, as they continue their journey in the Betfred Super League.
