Leigh Leopards Owner Drops Hint on Adrian Lam Contract Extension
Leigh Leopards owner Derek Beaumont has strongly hinted that the club will extend the contract of current head coach Adrian Lam. With numerous off-contract players dominating the Super League headlines in recent months, particularly after the May 1st deadline, Lam has emerged as arguably the most high-profile name whose future remains uncertain.
The Leigh Leopards head coach’s deal is set to expire at the end of the current season, making his next move a topic of intense speculation within the rugby league community. However, Beaumont has suggested that a three-year contract has been presented to the Papua New Guinean tactician, stating to those in the Hospitality Suite at the Leigh Sports Village: “Lammy (Adrian Lam) has had a deal put to him, it’s a three-year deal and we’d like to keep him.”
Beaumont further emphasized the club’s commitment to retaining Lam, adding: “If somebody’s throwing crazy offers around and someone wants to take that with the uncertainty that brings, then that’s their decision. What I can guarantee you is that we’ll be a club spending a full salary cap, as we are, with the full three marquee quotas that you’re allowed and with a top-level coach.”
The owner’s comments have sparked speculation that Lam’s new deal with the Leigh Leopards may have already been finalized, a notion potentially bolstered by Beaumont’s recent social media post showing himself and Lam shaking hands, accompanied by the caption: “Some things are worth coming home for.”

While Lam himself has remained coy on the contract negotiations, stating that he is “not sure if that’s exactly right” in response to Beaumont’s previous remarks, the Leigh Leopards faithful will be eagerly awaiting official confirmation of their head coach’s future.
