Leigh Leopards Owner Confirms Contract Offer to Head Coach Adrian Lam Amid Speculation of Potential Hull FC Move
In a move to secure their coaching leadership, the Leigh Leopards have tabled a contract offer to head coach Adrian Lam, according to club owner Derek Beaumont. The 53-year-old Papua New Guinean tactician, whose current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, has been in charge at Leigh Sports Village since the start of 2022.
Lam’s tenure has been marked by success, as he guided the Leopards back to the Super League following their relegation to the Championship, while also lifting the 1895 Cup along the way. Now, with Leigh targeting a second consecutive top-six finish, the club is keen to retain Lam’s services amid growing speculation of a potential move to Hull FC.
“Lammy has had a deal put to him, it’s a three-year deal and we’d like to keep him,” Beaumont said. “If somebody’s throwing crazy offers around and someone wants to take that with the uncertainty that brings, then that’s their decision.”
The Leopards owner went on to reassure fans of the club’s ambition, pledging that Leigh will be a “club spending a full salary cap, as we are, with the full three marquee quotas that you’re allowed and with a top-level coach.” This commitment underscores the Leopards’ determination to maintain their position as one of the Super League’s most ambitious outfits.
The announcement of Lam’s contract offer comes as the club has already made a high-profile signing, securing the services of Leopards captain John Asiata on a three-year deal from 2025, further fueling speculation around the coach’s future.
