Leigh Leopards Lose Star Forward Tom Amone to NRL’s Canterbury Bulldogs

Leigh Leopards Suffer Major Blow as Star Forward Tom Amone Departs for NRL’s Canterbury Bulldogs

In a significant blow to the Leigh Leopards, the club has confirmed the departure of key forward Tom Amone, who will join the Canterbury Bulldogs in the NRL from the 2025 season.

Amone, 27, has been a revelation for the Leopards since joining the club in 2022, playing a pivotal role in their promotion and Challenge Cup triumph. His standout performances last season saw him named in the Super League Dream Team, as Leigh secured a spot in the play-off places – a remarkable feat for a newly-promoted side.

“Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are pleased to announce the signing of prop, Tom Amone who will join the Bulldogs on a two-year term commencing in 2025,” the NRL club stated.

The Leopards are facing a significant rebuilding phase, with influential captain John Asiata already confirmed to be joining Hull FC, while Oliver Holmes and Zak Hardaker have also reportedly signed for the same club.

On a positive note, head coach Adrian Lam has signed a new three-year contract, keeping him at Leigh Sports Village until at least the end of 2027. This long-term commitment from Lam could prove crucial in attracting new talent to the club ahead of the 2025 season and beyond.
