Leigh Leopards Anticipate Return of Key Players, but Injury Sidetrack Pursuit of Wanted Man
Leigh Leopards are set to welcome back a pair of key forwards, Robbie Mulhern and Oliver Holmes, for their upcoming clash against Warrington Wolves. However, the club’s pursuit of sought-after player Ben Nakubuwai has hit a snag due to an injury setback.
Powerhouse Mulhern, who has been sidelined for the last two games with a calf strain, is in contention to feature this week. Similarly, Holmes, who has made just one Super League appearance so far this season, could also return to the fold.
While the potential return of Mulhern and Holmes provides a boost for Leigh, coach Adrian Lam has also delivered an update on the status of other influential players. Gaz O’Brien is facing an extended absence due to a “pretty big” calf tear, with an estimated recovery time of around six weeks.

On a more positive note, Lam revealed that John Asiata, Tom Briscoe, and Edwin Ipape are all making progress in their recoveries and are now running on the field, though they remain a couple of weeks away from a return to action.
The Leopards’ pursuit of Castleford Tigers target Ben Nakubuwai has hit a roadblock, as the Fiji international has picked up a knock and will miss the trip to Warrington. Lam confirmed that the injury is a “soft tissue” problem, with more details to be provided following a medical assessment.
Despite the setback with Nakubuwai, Leigh remains keen on bolstering their squad with overseas talent, but any potential moves would require one of the current quota players in the squad to depart.
