Rugby League News: Leigh Leopards Receive Injury Boost Ahead of Challenge Cup Quarter-Final
Leigh Leopards head coach Adrian Lam has provided a positive injury update for his team as they prepare to face Hull KR in the Challenge Cup quarter-final. The Leopards are set for a rematch of the 2023 Challenge Cup final, which they won 17-16 thanks to a late drop goal from Lachlan Lam.
Speaking to the media, Lam said, “A couple of niggling injuries from last week, but mostly really positive.” He highlighted that Tom Amone, who was selected to the Super League Dream Team in 2023, is back in contention after a foot injury that was initially expected to sideline him for eight weeks.
“It’s just good to see him back around the players after the rehab that he’s done,” Lam said. “I think his inclusion, if he makes it for this weekend, will be good for the team.”
Lam also provided an update on Robbie Mulhern, who has been dealing with a calf issue. “He’s a 50-50, Robbie, for this weekend,” the Leigh Leopards head coach revealed. “Again, it’s not ideal that one of our senior players is in that position, and he’s played at Hull KR before as well, so he knows what it’s like to go up there and play at that ground. We’re going to give him right up until Captain’s Run to see if he’s good to go too.”
The Leigh Leopards’ upcoming rugby league fixture against Hull KR in the Challenge Cup quarter-final promises to be an exciting rematch of the 2023 final. With the potential return of key players like Amone and Mulhern, the Leopards will be bolstered as they look to secure another victory and progress in the competition.
