Leigh Leopards Welcome Back Key Players Ahead of Catalans Dragons Clash
As the Leigh Leopards set their sights on their upcoming match against the Catalans Dragons this Saturday, they have received a significant boost with the return of two key players to their lineup. Head coach Adrian Lam has confirmed that fullback Gareth O’Brien and utility forward Matt Davis will be cleared to travel and join the Leopards’ squad for the trip to Perpignan.
The Leopards have faced a challenging season so far, with injuries severely impacting their play-off push. However, the impending return of O’Brien and Davis provides a much-needed lift to the team as they prepare for the crucial clash.
Furthermore, the Leopards are also optimistic about the potential return of another influential duo in the near future. Prop Robbie Mulhern’s calf injury, which initially raised concerns about an extended absence, has been assessed to be less severe than initially feared. Lam revealed that Mulhern could be fit as early as next Friday’s match against the Leeds Rhinos.
Similarly, captain John Asiata’s recovery is progressing well, and while the Wigan Warriors clash after the international break may be a more realistic target, Lam did not rule out the possibility of Asiata being available for the Leeds Rhinos encounter as well.
“Every player that’s come back from injury has lifted the team, and with Robbie and John, they’re as influential as any forward in any team in the competition. We’re looking forward to them coming back.”
The Leigh Leopards’ ability to welcome back these influential figures at a critical juncture of the season could prove pivotal in their quest to secure a play-off berth.
