Leeds Rhinos Winger Luis Roberts Attracting Interest from Rival Super League Clubs
Leeds Rhinos winger Luis Roberts is generating interest from fellow Super League clubs as he approaches the end of his current two-year contract with the Rhinos. Roberts, who was named the Championship’s young player of the year in 2021, has become a regular fixture in the Rhinos’ lineup this season, featuring in every single league and cup match.
Despite injuries to key players like Harry Newman and David Fusitu’a, the 22-year-old has cemented his place in Rohan Smith’s side, showcasing his Super League-level talent. However, with his contract status listed as “not yet determined” as of May 3, rival clubs have taken notice of Roberts’ potential availability.
“Love Rugby League has learned that two separate Super League teams have expressed interest in acquiring the young winger’s services for the 2025 season.”
After starting his career with Salford and enjoying stints with Widnes, Swinton, and Leigh, Roberts has accrued over 50 senior appearances, nearly half of which have come in the top-flight. With his best years still ahead of him, the Rhinos face a challenge in keeping Roberts at Emerald Headingley, as the transfer market begins to heat up. The club must now decide whether to offer the 22-year-old a new deal or risk losing him to a competitor, as they aim to retain one of the rising stars in rugby league.
