Leeds Rhinos Winger Ash Handley Updates on Rugby League Rib Injury

Leeds Rhinos Winger Ash Handley Provides Update on Rugby League Rib Injury

In a recent update, Leeds Rhinos winger Ash Handley has shed light on the rib injury he sustained during Friday’s 34-8 defeat against the Warrington Wolves in the rugby league Super League.

The 28-year-old was forced to leave the field early after taking a hit to his ribs and was immediately taken to the hospital for further examination. Speaking to the club’s YouTube channel, Handley provided an update on his condition, three days after the rugby league incident.

“I’m a bit sore, I spent a good few hours in A&E on Friday but it’s settled down over the last couple of days so I’m hoping it will keep settling down and see how I go,” Handley said, regarding the rugby league rib injury.

The winger revealed that he struggled to breathe after the impact, surprised that he was able to walk off the field. Handley explained that the injury appears to be cartilage-related, with no bone break, though the recovery timeline remains uncertain.

“I think it’s cartilage in my rib, there’s no break on the bone which is good, but I don’t know how long it’s going to take (to heal). I’m just taking it day by day, I’m normally a quick healer but we’ll just have to see how I feel, try to walk properly first and go from there,” the rugby league player stated.

Handley expressed gratitude for the support received from the Leeds Rhinos medical staff and the NHS, acknowledging the club’s care for his well-being. The rugby league winger is hopeful of a swift recovery, particularly with a week off before the next Super League fixtures.

“I’m pretty glad we’ve got a week off this week so I’m not missing too many games, but we’ll just see where I’m at. Hopefully in a couple of weeks time I’ll be back running and see where we can go from there,” Handley concluded.

As the rugby league world cup fixtures approach, Handley’s recovery will be closely monitored by fans and the sky sports rugby league community.
