Rugby League News: Leeds Rhinos Confirm Quiet Transfer Deadline Day
Leeds Rhinos head coach Brad Arthur has confirmed that the club has no plans to bolster their squad on the upcoming transfer deadline day. Additionally, Arthur has dismissed suggestions that the Rhinos are interested in signing Canterbury forward Liam Knight.
In his weekly pre-match media conference, Arthur stated that the prospect of any new signings arriving at AMT Headingley before the deadline on Friday is “unlikely.” He explained that the Rhinos are “reasonably healthy” in terms of their current playing roster and that they are confident in the abilities of the players already within their system.
Arthur did, however, acknowledge that the club has received enquiries about some of their fringe players following the loan move of young prop Leon Ruan to Hull FC for the remainder of the season. But the coach emphasized the need to maintain a strong squad, stating that “clubs aren’t going to try to help prop up oppositions that might be a threat.”
“Ian (Blease) has closed down the suggestions of those players linked with us, and I’m unsure of where the rumors originated.”
Overall, it appears that Leeds Rhinos will be taking a more conservative approach to the transfer deadline, focusing on the players currently within their system and providing opportunities for their young talents to shine.
