Leeds Rhinos Accelerate Recruitment Plans for 2025 with Brad Arthur Confirmed as Head Coach
Leeds Rhinos’ Recruitment Efforts for 2025
- The Leeds Rhinos have wasted no time in advancing their recruitment plans for the 2025 season, following the confirmation of Brad Arthur’s one-year contract extension as the club’s head coach.
- According to sporting director Ian Blease, the Rhinos’ salary cap constraints pose a significant challenge as they look to bolster their squad.
Brad Arthur’s Contract Extension
- Arthur’s initial one-year deal will be reviewed at the start of 2025, with the potential to extend his tenure into 2026.
- The Rhinos had already begun tentative recruitment efforts before Arthur’s contract extension, but Blease admits that with the coach’s future now secured, the club can push forward more decisively.
“There’s a process we’re going to go through in terms of recruitment,” Blease revealed. “There’s a salary cap we’ve got to adhere to, which is probably my main concern at the moment, how we get new players within that.”
- Despite the departure of Rhyse Martin, which provides some financial flexibility, Blease acknowledged that the Rhinos have limited room to maneuver in the transfer market.
Focusing on Recruitment Plans
- Blease reiterated that significant player turnover is unlikely at Headingley this winter, but with Arthur’s future confirmed, the club can now focus on their recruitment plans more effectively.
- Blease will hold talks with the head coach at the start of 2025 to discuss the possibility of extending his contract through to 2026.
