Leeds Rhinos Future Plans and Player Update 2024

Leeds Rhinos Prepare for 2025 with Confirmed Signings and Contract Extensions

As the 2024 Super League season approaches its midpoint, the Leeds Rhinos are already laying the groundwork for the 2025 campaign. In a significant move, the club has confirmed the signing of legendary player Ryan Hall for the upcoming season (Leeds Rhinos, 2023).

However, the Rhinos also face the challenge of retaining several key players, with as many as six individuals out of contract at the end of the current season. These include standout performers such as Rhyse Martin, Luis Roberts, and James Donaldson (Leeds Rhinos, 2023).

In a recent press conference, head coach Rohan Smith provided an update on the future of one of these off-contract playersKieran Hudson. The talented youngster joined the Rhinos in 2024 after a spell with the Castleford Tigers, but has yet to feature for the first team due to an injury sustained during his time at Castleford (Leeds Rhinos, 2023).

“Kieran’s contracted, he will be with us next year,” the coach stated (Leeds Rhinos, 2023).

Elaborating on Hudson’s injury troubles, Smith explained the nature of the Achilles issue the player brought with him from Castleford, and the challenges he has faced in his recovery process.

“Kieran’s had a few hiccups, which aren’t uncommon on the back of a really long Achilles rehab that he brought with him from Cas last year, which he was well down the path of being back from that by the time he joined us. He’s had a couple of other little niggles” (Leeds Rhinos, 2023).

However, Smith remains optimistic about Hudson’s future, stating that the player is approximately a month away from a full return to fitness. The coach expects Hudson to feature for the Leeds first team in the second half of the 2024 season, as the young player continues to build up his rugby league experience and physical conditioning (Leeds Rhinos, 2023).
