“Remember, remember, Junior Nsemba” – the Wigan Warriors Young Sensation
The 19-year-old back-rower Junior Nsemba has been making waves in the Super League, cementing his place in the Wigan first team with a series of impressive performances. Nsemba, who hails from the local Wigan St Judes community club, has already made 19 appearances for the Warriors since making his debut in 2022.
His man-of-the-match display against the Leigh Leopards last week was just the latest testament to his immense talent and potential. Wigan coach Matt Peet has been full of praise for the young prospect, highlighting his outstanding physical attributes, determination to learn, and humble off-field demeanor.
“Junior has always been a powerful athlete and he’s a really outstanding young man, very respectful, very keen to learn. When you get a combination of the two – an outstanding physical specimen who is determined and keen to learn and a good lad – then you know you’ve got a player who you want to keep hold of and who you want to work with.”
Nsemba’s rise to the first team has been nothing short of remarkable, and the youngster is grateful for the opportunity to represent his hometown club.
“It’s a blessing. Everything I’m doing right now is for my family, mainly for my mum and dad so I am just trying to continue that and give everything back to them really.”
As Wigan Warriors gear up for their Challenge Cup quarter-final clash against Castleford Tigers this weekend, all eyes will be on the talented Nsemba, who continues to impress and inspire with his performances on the pitch.
