Hull KR Secure Dramatic Victory over Castleford Tigers
On Thursday evening, Hull KR climbed to joint-fifth in the Super League ‘away table’ after securing a dramatic 13-12 victory over Castleford Tigers. In a thrilling Round 15 clash at the Jungle, the Robins managed to grind out the win, with Jez Litten’s late drop goal proving the difference.
Willie Peters’ side had taken a 12-6 lead at the break, thanks to tries from Tom Opacic and captain Elliot Minchella, which came in response to Sam Wood’s opener for the hosts. However, Castleford leveled the scores midway through the second half when former Robins playmaker Rowan Milnes crossed the line after a neat ‘show and go’ on Mikey Lewis.
“With the game poised at 12-12 in the closing stages, it was KR who held their nerve, as Litten slotted over the decisive drop goal to secure the two competition points for the visitors.”
The result marked the Robins’ fourth away win of the Super League season, and their second in a row after a comfortable victory at London Broncos at the end of May.
The win sees Hull KR move into a tie for fifth place in the ‘away table’, while their rivals Hull FC currently have the outright worst away record in the competition. Castleford, meanwhile, remain one of three Super League sides still seeking their first away victory of the 2024 season.
