Hull KR Exploring Potential Signing of Wests Tigers’ Brent Naden
Rugby league fans are abuzz with speculation as Hull KR have reportedly expressed interest in signing Wests Tigers back Brent Naden. The out-of-favor player has primarily featured in the New South Wales Cup this season, and Wests CEO Shane Richardson is now said to be exploring options to offload the $300,000 man.
Discussions Surrounding Wests Tigers’ Roster Moves
According to Sky Sports News reporter Jenna Brooks, the discussions surrounding Wests Tigers’ roster moves have been a major talking point this week. “Hull KR are taking a look at centre or winger Brent Naden,” she revealed, as the Robins seek to bolster their outside backs unit.
If Naden were to join Hull KR, he would add considerable depth alongside established names like Tom Opacic, Oliver Gildart, Peta Hiku, Jack Broadbent and Joe Burgess. The move also aligns with the recent departure of Ryan Hall back to Leeds Rhinos, solidifying the rationale behind Hull KR‘s interest.
Naden’s NRL and Reserve Grade Performances
Naden, who made his NRL debut with the Penrith Panthers in 2019, has accumulated 37 appearances for the club over three seasons. He was part of the Panthers’ Minor Premiership-winning team in 2020 before making a switch to the Canterbury Bulldogs in 2022, where he made eight appearances. His most recent move saw him join the Wests Tigers, where he has featured in 24 games across three seasons.
Naden’s performances in the reserve grade, however, have been particularly impressive. The versatile back has amassed an impressive 79 appearances in the New South Wales Cup, representing Penrith, Newcastle, Mount Pritchard and Wests in the second-tier competition.
“The potential acquisition of Brent Naden would undoubtedly bolster Hull KR‘s backline and provide valuable depth as they continue their quest for success in the rugby league landscape.”
