Hull KR Injury Update Ahead of Warrington Match

Hull KR Provide Injury Update Ahead of Warrington Clash

Following a tough weekend where three Hull KR players sustained injuries, head coach Willie Peters has delivered an update on their status ahead of the team’s upcoming match against Warrington Wolves.

During the Robins’ impressive 40-20 victory over reigning champions St Helens, Oli Gildart, Elliot Minchella, and James Batchelor all picked up issues. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Peters provided details on the trio’s conditions.

Gildart’s Injury Concern

Gildart’s injury is a knee problem, and he was the only one of the three players omitted from the 20-man squad named for the Warrington clash. Peters stated, “We’re just waiting for scans with Oli, just to confirm what it will be. We’re hoping that we’ll find out this afternoon. If not, it’ll be early tomorrow morning. But yeah, at this stage, he’s obviously no good to go for Thursday.”

When asked if Gildart’s issue could be a longer-term concern, the coach acknowledged, “There’s a possibility. We’ll know more this afternoon or tomorrow.”

Minchella and Batchelor’s Status

As for the other two players, Batchelor had a problem with his eye, while Minchella suffered a groin injury. Peters commented, “[Batchelor is] okay, he got poked in the eye and had blurred vision. It’s settling down. Yeah, same with Mini (Minchella), we need to wait until pretty much tomorrow and make a decision on that, and then we’ll work out who will go over and play Warrington.”

The head coach revealed that Minchella has been named in the squad, but a final decision on his availability will be made in the next 24 hours. Peters also admitted that the team has been dealing with various “niggles” due to the short turnaround between matches.

Despite the injury concerns, Hull KR will be determined to build on their impressive victory over St Helens when they travel to the Halliwell Jones Stadium to face Warrington Wolves on Thursday, May 9th.
