Hull FC’s Prolonged Struggle: A Deepening Losing Streak Amid Super League Woes
Hull FC’s woes have deepened further, as they find themselves on the verge of matching their second-worst losing run in the club’s history. Following a 34-18 defeat to the bottom-placed London Broncos on Sunday, the Black and Whites have now suffered nine consecutive losses across all competitions.
The latest setback has seen Hull FC drop level on points with London at the foot of the Super League table, a concerning development for the once-formidable club. This is only the fourth time in the 21st century that Hull have lost seven or more games in a row, with three of those runs occurring in the last two seasons.
Remarkably, the only other occasion when Hull FC have lost more than nine games consecutively was just over five years ago, when they endured a dreadful 13-game losing streak from July 2018 to February 2019, spanning two separate campaigns.
Despite briefly holding an 18-16 lead midway through the second half against the Broncos, Hull ultimately succumbed to yet another defeat, conceding 18 unanswered points in the final stages to give London a well-deserved and comfortable victory.
The Black and Whites will be hoping to avoid the ignominy of reaching double figures in terms of successive losses when they take on Castleford Tigers in a fortnight’s time, a crucial clash that could have major ramifications on which team finishes bottom of the Super League this season.
