Hull FC Young Gun Kye Armstrong Departs Club in Search of More Playing Time
Hull FC have confirmed the departure of 20-year-old forward Kye Armstrong, as the West Hull junior’s first-team contract with the club has come to an end without an agreement on a new deal.
Armstrong, who turned 20 in September, was a regular feature for the Black and Whites’ reserves side over the past few seasons but was unable to make a senior appearance for the club prior to this departure. However, the young loose forward did get his first taste of professional rugby league action during a loan spell with Midlands Hurricanes in the 2023 season.
“Coming off the bench in a pair of League 1 matches for the Hurricanes, Armstrong made his senior debut in a 36-12 loss to Keighley Cougars on July 24 before making another appearance the following week in a 32-0 defeat against eventual champions Oldham.”
Born in Hull, Armstrong progressed through the club’s scholarship program before joining the reserves side. He also donned the Yorkshire Academy jersey in their War of the Roses series against Lancashire last July.
In a brief statement, Hull FC announced Armstrong’s departure, wishing the young forward the best in his next chapter as he seeks more opportunities to play regular first-team rugby league elsewhere.
