Hull FC Recruit Salford Youngster Amir Bourouh Amid Rebuilding Efforts
The rebuilding process at Hull FC continues with reports that the club has signed young hooker Amir Bourouh from Salford Red Devils. According to Hull Live’s Matt Shaw, Bourooh is the latest recruit in Hull FC’s roster shakeup under Director of Rugby Richie Myler.
The 23-year-old Bourouh will join the Black and Whites for the 2025 season, along with several other new signings. So far, only John Asiata has been officially confirmed by the club.
Bourouh’s arrival is seen as a significant coup for Hull FC, who are currently relying on veteran hooker Danny Houghton, potentially in his final year, and youngster Denive Balmforth. Both Houghton and Balmforth are out of contract at the end of the season, and the club’s pre-season recruit, New Zealand hooker Nu Brown, has already left to return to the NRL.
“The reported signing of Bourouh comes after Hull FC’s failed attempt to secure Paul Rowley as their new head coach. It was suggested that the club had also targeted Salford’s Marc Sneyd as part of their efforts to strengthen their spine for 2025.”
However, they will now turn to Bourouh as a key player in their rebuilding plans.
Richie Myler has previously explained the club’s pursuit and ultimate rejection of Rowley, citing logistical challenges and Rowley’s personal reasons for declining the offer.
As Hull FC continues to reshape their roster, they have also been linked with a double swoop for Lachlan and Adrian Lam, as well as the signings of Oliver Holmes and Zak Hardaker for 2025. However, the club is yet to confirm a new head coach, a crucial piece that Myler will be eager to address during the current Super League break.
