Hull FC Pursues Tim Lafai of Salford Red Devils Amidst Contract Uncertainty

Hull FC Eyeing Salford Red Devils Centre Tim Lafai, But Club Determined to Retain Prized Asset

Hull FC’s Interest in Lafai

According to reports from Love Rugby League, Hull FC are expressing interest in a potential deal for Salford Red Devils’ centre Tim Lafai. However, the Red Devils have no plans to part ways with one of their standout players at this time.

Lafai’s Resurgence at Salford

Lafai has emerged as one of the leading centres in Super League over the past two years, reviving his career under the guidance of Salford head coach Paul Rowley. The Samoan international remains under contract with the Red Devils until the end of the 2024 season.

“Salford are determined to hold onto the 32-year-old. The club has already lost hooker Amir Bourouh to Hull FC for the 2025 campaign, and they do not want to see another key player depart.”

Salford’s Stance on Lafai

While Hull FC are reportedly keen to bolster their squad with Lafai’s services as part of their offseason plans, Salford are determined to hold onto the player. Love Rugby League has been informed that Salford have not received any official, formal offers for Lafai at this stage. Given that the centre is still under contract, any potential transfer would require negotiations between the two clubs to agree on a suitable fee.

Hull FC’s Preparations for 2025

Hull FC’s preparations for the 2025 season are well underway, with the signing of Leigh Leopards trio John Asiata, Zak Hardaker and Oliver Holmes already confirmed. Hardaker’s arrival could potentially see him form a starting centre partnership with Liam Sutcliffe, but a move for Lafai could present an intriguing option for the Black and Whites.

“Lafai’s experience and proven quality in the Super League make him an attractive target, though his age of 33 next month may be a consideration for Hull FC as they look to balance their squad.”

Nonetheless, Salford appear determined to retain the services of their prized asset, leaving Hull FC with a significant challenge if they wish to secure Lafai’s signature.
