Hull FC Interim Coach Grix Sees Positives Despite Defeat, Welcomes Returning Players
Under the guidance of new interim coach Simon Grix, Hull FC put in a much-improved performance against Leeds Rhinos on Sunday, despite a narrow defeat. Grix expressed optimism about the team’s progress, highlighting the “green shoots” he saw in their display.
Despite the 58-0 thrashing by St Helens the previous week, the Blacks and Whites looked like a revitalized team against the Rhinos. While they were unable to secure the win, Grix and the fans were pleased to see the players fight with determination and show promising signs of improvement.
Grix praised the contributions of loanees Ed Chamberlain and Yusuf Aydin, who had recently joined the club, stating that they “did a good job” and that the whole team “stepped up a bit.”
Positive Outlook and Returning Players
The interim coach acknowledged that results are the priority, but he was encouraged by the team’s increased possession and confidence in their play. Grix emphasized that although they didn’t get the points, there was “plenty to take out of that one.”
One of the biggest boosts for Hull FC moving forward is the impending return of several key players from injury. Grix revealed that Jake Trueman is “almost there” and expected to feature in training this week, while Cam Scott and Tom Briscoe will also be available.
Grix expressed cautious optimism about Trueman’s return, noting that the half-back has been out for a long time and may not immediately reach his best form. However, the coach believes Trueman’s qualities are exactly what the team has been missing and that his inclusion will be a welcome boost.
Upcoming Match and Hopes for Improvement
With the team showing signs of progress and reinforcements on the way, Hull FC will look to build on their performance against Leeds when they face Warrington Wolves on Friday. Grix and the fans will be hoping the improved effort and the returning players can help the team secure a crucial victory against the Wolves.
