Rugby League Rebuild: Hull FC Bolsters 2025 Squad with Key Signings and Retentions

Hull FC’s preparations for the 2025 Super League season are well underway, with the club announcing a flurry of incoming signings and contract extensions in recent weeks. The Black and Whites are eager to bounce back from a challenging 2024 campaign and have already secured several marquee additions for the next term.

Headlining the club’s recruitment drive are signings of John Asiata, Jordan Abdull, and Jed Cartwright, who will join the squad alongside new head coach John Cartwright. Additionally, Treigh Stewart was initially announced as a 2025 arrival, but the deal was later withdrawn following an allegation of domestic violence against the player.

Alongside the incoming talent, Hull FC’s Director of Rugby, Richie Myler, has been busy securing the futures of the club’s young stars. Last month, the team confirmed a new contract for Logan Moy, and this week, Davy Litten also put pen to paper on a fresh deal. Now, another promising youth product has committed his long-term future to the MKM Stadium.

“I’m buzzing to commit my future to my hometown club for another two years. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given since making my debut last year, and I’m determined to keep improving and doing my part for this team.”

  • Lewis Martin, 19-year-old winger

In a statement released by the club, Hull FC announced that 19-year-old winger Lewis Martin has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2026 Betfred Super League season. The local lad expressed his delight at the new deal, stating his commitment to the team.

Myler, who has emphasized the importance of retaining a core of local talent, spoke highly of Martin’s progress, describing him as a “superb” young talent with a bright future ahead. “Lewis knows he isn’t the finished article yet and that there’s still plenty of years of development ahead, but he’s shown some superb early signs and we believe he’s going to be one of our exciting talents for years to come,” Myler said.

Hull FC will host the Leeds Rhinos on Saturday afternoon as they continue their search for a second victory of the 2024 Super League season.
