Rugby League Veteran Daniel Vidot Joins USA National Team for South African Tour
Former Brisbane Broncos and Salford Red Devils winger Daniel Vidot has made a return to rugby league, securing a spot on the USA national team’s upcoming tour of South Africa. Vidot, who last played professionally in 2018 before transitioning to a career in professional wrestling, is set to represent the Tomahawks for the first time.
The 34-year-old had a brief stint in the Super League with Salford Red Devils in 2016, making ten appearances for the club before returning to the NRL to join Gold Coast Titans. However, he subsequently stepped away from rugby league to pursue a wrestling career, signing with WWE in 2018 and performing under the ring name Xyon Quinn.
“Now, Vidot has marked his comeback to the international game, having previously earned ten caps for Samoa and been part of their squad for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.”
His inclusion in the USA squad is a surprise, as he featured for the DC Cavalry in the USARL earlier this summer.
USA Squad for South African Tour
The entirety of the USA squad, which will face South Africa in two Test matches in December, are based in the States. Notable names in the Tomahawks’ touring party include Ryan Burroughs, who played for Toronto Wolfpack and Barrow Raiders in England, and former Toronto player Joe Eichner.
