Rugby League: Castleford Tigers Hopeful for Jason Qareqare’s Return Against Hull KR
Castleford Tigers are optimistic that winger Jason Qareqare will be available for their upcoming match against Hull KR next week, having missed Thursday’s 20-10 defeat against Leigh Leopards due to a hamstring concern.
According to Tigers boss Craig Lingard, Qareqare tweaked his hamstring during the team’s pre-match preparations, leading to a precautionary decision to sit him out of the Leigh clash. Youngster Fletcher Rooney stepped up to make his home debut, even scoring the opening try, but Castleford ultimately fell short against the visitors.
Earlier this season, Qareqare had been sidelined for around three months after undergoing surgery on an ankle injury. However, Lingard has reassured fans that the Fiji international’s latest hamstring issue is not expected to result in any long-term problems.
“We’re hoping it’s not too serious, but we’ll assess it after the weekend again,” Lingard said, expressing cautious optimism about Qareqare’s potential return.
The Tigers are set to face Hull KR next Friday, August 9th, and Lingard is hopeful that Qareqare will be available for selection at Craven Park. The coach explained that they opted not to risk the winger against Leigh as a precaution, and may not even need to send him for a scan, provided he continues to progress well over the weekend.
Castleford will be eager to bounce back from their defeat against Leigh when they take on Hull KR, and the availability of their influential winger could prove crucial in their pursuit of a positive result.
