Castleford Tigers Explore Loan Move for Half-Back Danny Richardson
Castleford, England
In a continued effort to reshape their Super League squad, the Castleford Tigers are exploring the possibility of sending half-back Danny Richardson out on a short-term loan deal, Love Rugby League has learned.
Club sources indicate that Richardson, who has featured in five of Castleford’s league and cup matches this season, is potentially available for a temporary move elsewhere as he seeks regular playing time. However, it has been stressed that a permanent exit is not currently on the table.
Last weekend, Richardson was left out of the lineup, with head coach Craig Lingard opting for a half-back pairing of Rowan Milnes and Jacob Miller during the team’s defeat against the Wigan Warriors.
With the imminent return of full-back Luke Hooley to fitness and the recent addition of utility back Tex Hoy, Castleford are now open to listening to offers for Richardson in order to allow him to gain valuable minutes at the Super League level.
“While any potential move would likely be short-term, the Tigers remain committed to retaining Richardson as part of their long-term plans.”
The squad reshuffling comes amidst a busy week for the club, which has seen the arrival of Corey Hall on loan from Hull KR and Sam Eseh from Wigan Warriors, as well as the extension of Louis Senior’s short-term deal to the end of the season.
Castleford’s willingness to explore a loan move for Richardson underscores their desire to provide their players with the best opportunities for growth and development, while also maintaining a competitive and balanced squad throughout the season.
